When to use it

For a first meeting with angel or seed investors, a demo day slot, or an accelerator application that asks for a deck. It follows the order most investors read in: the problem, your answer to it, how big it can get, proof that it is working, how you make money, why you beat the alternatives, who is building it, and what you are asking for. If you are raising from a bank or applying for a grant, cut the market slide down and lead with the numbers they ask for instead.

Making it yours, slide by slide

• Title. Your company name and one line that a stranger understands: what you do and for whom. “Route planning for small delivery fleets” beats “AI-powered logistics optimization”.
• The problem. Three bullets, each a fact about your customer’s day. If you have a number (hours lost, money wasted), use it.
• Our solution. Put a real screenshot or product photo on the right. Investors remember what they see.
• Market. Use a bottom-up figure: number of customers you can reach times what each pays. Say where the number comes from.
• Traction. The chart should show your best real metric over time: revenue, paying customers or active users. Replace the example figures before you share the deck.
• Business model and why you win. Price per customer and how you grow; then a fair comparison with the option customers use today.
• Team and the ask. One line per founder on why they can build this. End with the amount, what it buys and how long it lasts.

Common mistakes

• Leading with the product instead of the problem, so investors don’t know why it matters.
• A market slide in the billions with no source. A smaller, believable number is more convincing.
• Leaving the example figures in. The traction and market slides are marked “example figures” so you don’t miss them.

How long it runs

Nine slides suit a five to eight minute pitch: about 45 seconds a slide, longer on traction. For a 3-minute demo day slot, merge business model into traction and drop the comparison.
